Welcome to the “New World Designers” blog and directory website!  For the first post, I wanted to talk about how the Instagram page started and how many brothers and sisters helped it grow.

New World Designers is an Instagram page that features JW designers, bakers, photographers, artists, and shops from all over the world.  The original Instagram page name was @jw_designers.

What inspired me to open @jw_designers? Well, I was following several creative friends on Instagram and I thought it would be fun to create a page to feature their designs, and thought it would also be cool to use it for marketing and networking purposes.  The honest truth is, this idea came to me because I was part of a fun group on Facebook where sisters gave each other advice on business. I had so much fun in the group and made wonderful friends.  So Instagram is a little different than Facebook because its more about posting photos with hashtags and I thought with the hashtags a wide audience would be able to see our designs.  So the page @jw_designers was created and the first shops featured were  Artistic Inclinations,  Hooked on Elizabeth, Crochet Chic, Maria Kata Jewelry and Loopy Crochet, and I am pretty sure Chic Noemi was after Loopy Crochet.  I opened it for less than 20 friends just for fun.

@allisonwrightstudios was so kind enough to design a logo for @jw_designers. A huge thanks to Allison Wright for this awesome logo.

As time went by, many friends referred other creative friends to the page and we just grew and grew in number of followers.  It was kinda awesome watching the number of followers go up, but at the same time I started to worry a little.  I really loved the name @jw_designers, but I started to worry about having the letters JW on the page name because the page was more commercial.  So a few of my friends helped me find a name that would be suitable and we came up with New World Designers.  Since we are a group of worldwide friends who believe in the new world, I thought that name fit well, so the page name changed.  It took a bit getting use to, but here we are 🙂 #newworlddesigners

The birth of a new logo.

A graphic designer named Cindy Venuto surprised me with new logos.  A huge thank you to @cindys_creative_contour for her kindness in taking time to make the logos.  She worked very hard making the logos. She also designed some interactive graphics like Follow Friday, Throw back Thursday, and of course, the popular “I was featured” graphic which really also helped new followers find the page.  Thank you Cindy!!!!!!!

So many vendors donated logos.  The one below is by @oceanandsnowdesign – love how it has the earth with different check points because we really are an international group of shop owners.  Isn’t it great!!!! Thank you very much William!

A few months later, sweet Dana from Happier to Give also made a logo for my profile.  Here it is below. Isn’t it amazing? I love each one and appreciate soooooo much all the wonderful designs by all the graphic designers.

Now the last logo received was @jellyfishprintables who one day surprised me with the beautiful logo below.  I am so appreciative for her thoughtfulness and kindness.  The profile photo on Instagram changes every so often so each logo could be used.

A huge thank you to all the graphic designers who worked hard to make the page look professional.  If you are a shop and want to brand your business, here ya go!!! You have a nice group of graphic designers to contact above.

The page now has 28,00 followers.  Why did the page grow so fast? It grew because so any followers tell their friends about the page.  I often read comments under a feature from a follower saying: “This is the page I was talking to you about.”  That puts a smile on my face.

What inspired me to keep the page open despite the time it takes to manage it with so many direct messages?  One day I received a message from a sister saying she sold earrings and was able to buy gas  to get her and some friends to service.  That really touched my heart because I saw how some use their little earnings to support their ministry. That’s when it clicked.  This is when I realized maybe, just maybe this page exists for a reason.

So that is the story behind New World Designers, a page created for less than 20 friends will soon now be a page with 30,000 plus followers.  We gain about 1,000 followers each month so expect huge growths!
